Structural monitoring systems can help prevent collapse, damage due to movement over time, and avoid costly litigation. Our surveying techniques can also acquire information about the stability of a structure before additions or expansions are made.
Are you in need of a quality land surveyor to monitor a structure for movement, such as bridges, docks, buildings, towers, dams and foundations or maybe you need a company to monitor floor settlement or retaining or sound wall movement? If so, look no further as Teunisen Surveying & Planning. Teunisen has over 40 years of experience surveying structure monitoring and settlement in NJ, NY, PA and the entire east coast.
At Teunisen, we combine conventional surveying techniques in conjunction with the latest hardware and software innovations to monitor structures. From 3D laser scanning, to GPS, to on-site robotic instruments programmed to take measurements at specific intervals and relay the measurements to our office, we select the best method to monitor your structure based upon the site, the issue, and the desired results.
Teunisen's land surveyors take precise measurements of predetermined monitoring points, then compare those measurements over time with previous measurements to determine movement. Over the past 40 years, Teunisen has perfected its quality process. And with the completion of hundreds of high profile and successful projects, Teunisen Surveying has built a reputation in the industry for getting it right, on-time, and on budget.
We have provided our structure monitoring services throughout New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania and the entire East Coast. Here are just a few examples of the range of projects we have completed.
Teunisen Surveying & Planning conducted horizontal and vertical movement monitoring. We monitored a dock and high tension structure for movement. This monitoring took place over approximately a ten year period. Monitoring varied from once a week to once a month.
Eventually, the dock fell into the Hackensack River. The structure moved four inches towards the river. Finally, a remedy was created: Sheeting was driven around the structure, and a new dolphin was erected. The monitoring ended six months after the sheeting was in place, which stopped the movement of the structure. Thanks to Teunisen's monitoring of the dock movement, the structure was fixed.
Teunisen engaged a building monitoring system for the elevation of the second floor of the new addition to the high school. Monitoring of building movement was conducted for a year: bi-monthly for the first six months, and monthly thereafter.
Teunisen was able to monitor floor settlement and discovered that the floor settled three eighths of an inch, then stopped settling. Thanks to Teunisen, the high school could make sure its new addition was safe and stable for students to enjoy in the years to come.
Teunisen monitored the structural movement of the dock and buildings, horizontally and vertically, over a two year period. The dock was monitored weekly, creating an understanding that the dock collapsed onto the bay. Because of Teunisen's quality monitoring of structures, Lone Star could prepare for the impending damage and make adjustments for the future structure.
After tunneling an encasement for a water line under the northbound and southbound and inner and outer roadways of the New Jersey Turnpike, we monitored the road for settlement. Weekly for the first month, bi-monthly for six months, each lane at ten foot intervals for one hundred feet, at twenty foot intervals for the second hundred feet. After six months of no settlement, the final reading was taken.
Teunisen monitored railroad tracks for horizontal and vertical movement while excavating for the south bridge abutment. To minimize disruption of service, the monitoring was performed at midnight each day, for a month after completion of excavation. Due to water problems, sheeting for the excavation of the south abutment was also monitored daily. Twenty-two targets were set on the top of the sheeting and angle and distance measurements were recorded daily at 6:00 A.M. for a month. The data was downloaded at our office and compared to previous readings.
